Ericka J. Thomas concentrates her practice in all areas of municipal litigation, including insurance defense, village prosecution, and civil rights defense. She also practices in the areas of public pension, administrative, and appellate law. She has extensive jury trial experience and has appeared before various levels of the state and federal court systems, including the Illinois Supreme Court.

Publications and Presentations
Ms. Thomas was an author and presenter on the topic of new developments in police and fire pension law for an Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education course. In addition, Ms. Thomas has been published in The Gong and is a frequent author of the firm’s Client Alerts.
Ms. Thomas was an Assistant State’s Attorney in Macon County, Illinois before joining OTTOSEN BRITZ. In that role, she tried over one hundred and twenty cases, including six homicide trials. Ms. Thomas also worked closely with law enforcement in Central Illinois to formulate and develop a breakthrough evidence gathering technique to aid in the prosecution of domestic violence cases.
