Considering herself a perpetual student, Maureen Anichini Lemon was drawn to the practice of law because of its diverse opportunities for study, learning, and analysis. While a financial litigation consultant, Ms. Anichini Lemon was involved in cases ranging from a Commonwealth Edison consumer rate dispute to a lawsuit against the government of Israel alleging the misappropriation of aerial reconnaissance surveillance equipment.
Upon graduating from law school, Ms. Anichini Lemon was an associate in the Labor and Public Sector practice areas at Vedder Price Kaufman & Kammholz in Chicago. Ms. Anichini Lemon focused on the representation of school districts and other municipal entities. Since joining the Naperville office of Ottosen Britz Kelly Cooper & Gilbert, Ltd. in September 1994, Ms. Anichini Lemon has continued this focus. Her labor experience includes the negotiation of numerous collective bargaining agreements, grievance and interest arbitration, and strike management.
In the field of employment law, Ms. Anichini Lemon advises and represents clients in discipline and discharge, employment-at-will, and discrimination cases. She has assisted in the development of numerous personnel policies and speaks frequently on sexual harassment and other employment-related topics.
Ms. Anichini Lemon's experience representing school districts extends to all aspects of school law, including extensive experience in special education issues, boundary changes, school board elections, and constitutional issues. She works closely with school administrators on matters of student and employee rights and responsibilities, and several clients have appointed her the hearing officer for student discipline cases.
Ms. Anichini Lemon has served on a community task force to study the consolidation of the Winfield and West Chicago school districts, and as co-chairperson of the School Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association. Since 1996, Ms. Anichini Lemon has been an Adjunct Professor at the Northern Illinois University College of Law. She has undergraduate degrees in Finance and Economics, and graduate degrees in Law and Educational Administration, each from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
