Donald L. Potts graduated from Niagara University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He graduated from Northern Illinois University College of Law, magna cum laude, in 2003, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Volume 23 of the Northern Illinois University Law Review, a member of the Moot Court Society, and a tutor for first year students. During his last two years of law school Mr. Potts clerked for OBKC&G, Ltd. He wrote several articles for the firm newsletter, Legal Insights, and a Client Alert detailing issues arising when public employees are called to active military service.

After law school, Mr. Potts clerked for Justice Tom M. Lytton of the Illinois Appellate Court. Upon completion of his clerkship, Mr. Potts returned to OBKC&G, Ltd. where his practice is concentrated in the areas of local government law, school law, and employment and labor law.
